In response to a suspected threat from the now-banned radical group Popular Front of India, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday issued “Y” category protection to five RSS leaders from Kerala (PFI).
Sources claim that when the Union government decided to outlaw PFI, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) alerted the MHA about a potential threat against RSS leaders in Kerala.
The MHA then decided to grant five RSS leaders in the southern state “Y” category security based on the NIA and Intelligence Bureau (IB) report. The security of the RSS leaders would be ensured by paramilitary commandos.
The names of five RSS officials who were purportedly on the PFI’s radar were listed on a list that the NIA discovered during raids at the home of Kerala PFI member Mohammed Basheer.
Eleven people in all will work in shifts to provide se curity, including six for personal security and five for static duty. Based on intelligence reports, the decision to provide security was made.

In light of security risks and ties to terrorism, the Union government on Wednesday banned the extreme group Popular Front of India (PFI) and its allies for five years. Nine organizations have been labeled “illegal” as a result of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The central agency and state police throughout the nation, who have already carried out two rounds of nationwide raids and detained more than 100 PFI members, now have the right to arrest members of the organization, freeze its accounts, and even confiscate its assets.
