AAP Leader Anurag Dhanda Denies Cross-Voting Allegations in 2025 Vice Presidential Election, Calls Media Reports Misleading

AAP leader Anurag Dhanda has denied allegations of cross-voting by party MPs in the 2025 Vice Presidential election, criticizing media reports for misinformation and explaining the reasons behind the unexpected voting margin.

Anurag Dhanda: After the 2025 Vice Presidential election, news of alternative MPs, including AAP members, voting for the other candidate caused a political stir. The election was won by CP Radhakrishnan of the NDA with 452 votes, while B. Sudershan Reddy, the candidate from the opposition, got 300 votes. The unexpected margin led to rumours that the opposition groups were not working together.

In response to the controversy, Anurag Dhanda, the leader of the AAP, strongly rejected that his party had crossed-voted. He said that all AAP MPs did what their party told them to do and voted in line with what the opposition agreed on. Dhanda criticized news stories that he thought were false and confusing, saying, “Every channel has its own lie.”

Making Voting Numbers Clearer

Dhanda gave background information to explain how the votes were split. He said that 15 votes were thrown out, and that 15 MPs from the opposition had voted for Radhakrishnan. He said that these votes did not come from AAP members but were either mistakes or harmful actions planned by other groups. He made it clear that the AAP was honest and disciplined during the whole voting process.

Reactions in the media and politics

The dispute grew stronger when news stories said that the opposition was no longer working together. Analysts said that strange voting trends in important elections often mean that there is disagreement or a lack of coordination within the party. But Dhanda’s statement tried to make it clear that the AAP stayed with the strategies of the opposition and did not help Radhakrishnan win by a larger percentage.

A Closer Look at Opposition Unity

Even though Dhanda made things clearer, questions about how the resistance stays together keep coming up. Political experts say that the party needs to improve how it talks to and manages its own members so that similar things don’t happen in future elections. Dhanda said again that the AAP was still committed to openness and party order, and he denied that people in his party were cross-voting.
