After Cyrus Mistry accident, Govt to make seat belt alarm mandatory in cars

The Transport Ministry has issued a notification making seat belt alarm mandatory in the car. This decision has been taken by the Transport Ministry with a view to curbing car accidents. The government is seen in action mode to curb the increasing cases of car accidents. After which it has been made mandatory for all the people sitting in the car to wear a seat belt.

Passengers will also get audio and video warnings for not wearing seat belts in cars. Now seat belt alarm will be mandatory in M and N category vehicles. Along with this, now over speed alarm will also be mandatory in vehicles. The Ministry of Transport has issued a draft notification regarding this. The Transport Ministry has sought people’s suggestions and objections on this matter till October 5.

Back seat belt is mandatory

According to the new rules of Delhi Traffic Police, now the person sitting in the back of the car is also required to wear a seat belt. According to the new rules, if the person sitting behind has not used the seat belt, then he will be fined Rs 1000. In the last several years, it has come to the fore that more people who sit behind have died in car accidents.

The biggest reason for this is that most of the people who sit behind the car do not use seat belts, in which case they are more prone to accidents. It has also been revealed in a survey that 7 out of every 10 people in India do not use seat belts when sitting in the back of the car.

There is a problem in the claim due to not wearing a seat belt

You will also face problem while making an insurance claim in a car accident, if you did not wear a seat belt at the time of the accident. If a person dies in a car accident, or gets into an accident for not wearing a seat belt, then he does not get compensation. If the person sitting in the back of the car has also not put on a seat belt, then the insurance company can deduct the compensation if he gets hurt in the accident. In this situation, less amount is available under the insurance claim.
