After Sam Pitroda, Mani Shankar Aiyar Gets Roasted For His ‘Respect Pakistan’ Remark, Political Firestorm Ensues

Mani Shankar Aiyar's Controversial "Respect Pakistan" Remark Sparks Outrage Amid Heated 2024 Election Battle

A controversial comment made by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has sparked new uproar in the political sphere amidst ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that earlier, Sam Pitroda had also made a controversial statement and now with the fourth round of voting just a few days away, the BJP has gone offensive in reaction to Aiyar’s comments.

Mani Shankar Aiyar’s Provocative Remark

Mani Shankar Aiyar recently made a comment in an interview praising Pakistan for having nuclear weapons and urging India to treat them with respect. He warned of the possible repercussions if such measures are not continued and underlined the significance of having a conversation with Pakistan. Aiyar emphasised that conversation is still essential even after ten years of suspended efforts.

BJP’s Strong Reaction

In a quick response to Aiyar’s remarks, BJP MP and Gorakhpur Lok Sabha candidate Ravi Kishan slammed Aiyar and said, “At this time Pakistan is collecting foodgrains for itself. They are facing a food crisis…Mani Shankar Aiyar should get himself treated somewhere. This is not the India of Congress. Now, India is very powerful. This is the India of PM Modi…”

Similar accusations were made by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who said, “Rahul Gandhi, Congress, Mani Shankar Aiyar are speaking the language of Pakistan…I would like to say that Congress should leave this dual policy, India is so powerful that if it casts an eye over us, Pakistan will no longer be there. He is speaking the language of Farooq Abdullah, of Pakistan. Congress speaks the language of Pakistan, of terrorists.”

Congress’s Response

In response to the controversy, Congress candidate Udit Raj sought to distance the party from Aiyar’s statement, he said, “…Mani Shankar Aiyar doesn’t hold an official position. So, whatever he says is his personal opinion. Congress has no such stand. Congress is not speaking anything on it.”
