Ahead of Hanuman Jayanti Bengal govt to deploy central forces

After the violent incidents on Ram Navami, the government is cautious about Hanuman Jayanti. On Wednesday (April 5), the Center directed all the states to ensure law and order and peace on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti. The Calcutta High Court also directed the West Bengal government to appeal for the deployment of central forces.

There was violence in many parts of the country during Ram Navami. Vehicles were also torched in the incidents of communal violence in West Bengal and Bihar. In view of this, the Center directed all the states and union territories to ensure law and order and peace on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 6 and keep an eye on the factors likely to disrupt communal harmony in the society.

The home minister's office tweeted that the state and union territory governments are encouraged to maintain law and order, maintain peace during the festival and keep a check on all kinds of factors that have the potential to disturb communal harmony in the society.

Bengal govt to deploy central forces

The Calcutta High Court also directed the West Bengal government to appeal for deployment of central forces to assist the state police in maintaining peace during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. The court said that in view of the incidents that have happened in the recent past, orders are being given to assure the general public that they are safe and they will not face any kind of trouble.
