The family of the Indian national who died from a bullet injury in the violently unrest-stricken capital of Sudan, Khartoum, would receive all assistance, according to the Union government.

The family of Albert Augestine, who was from the Keralan region of Kannur, would receive all required assistance, according to Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan, and plans are underway to repatriate his body back to the nation.

According to a government statement released on Sunday, the minister also spoke with the victim’s father.

The minister confirmed that Augestine’s wife and daughter, who were with him in Sudan, are safe and added that the Indian Embassy in Sudan has been given instructions to coordinate the next course of action.

According to his relatives in Kerala, Augestine was shot while speaking to his son who was in Canada. When the incident took place, he was inside his home.

In Sudan, Augestine worked by a Dal Group company.

While this was going on, KPCC President K Sudhakaran wrote to Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar requesting his urgent assistance in hastening the repatriation of Augestine’s remains to India.

There have reportedly been explosions and fights in several parts of Khartoum against the backdrop of rising hostilities between a paramilitary organisation and the Sudanese Army.
