The Allahabad High Court has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to consider a night curfew in the state amid the high steep in daily number of coronavirus cases. In addition, the court also asked the government to consider vaccination for all.

It also directed the state government to maintain covid-19 appropriate behaviour in the state and take stringent actions against those who flout norms.

A bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Siddharth Verma directed the order on Tuesday. It also ordered the police and district administration to make sure people wear masks and maintain social distancing.

The court directed that all citizens should be vaccinated and that officials should visit from house to house to vaccinate people. It has also asked the state government to consider crowd control in late evening celebrations as well as imposing a night curfew. All schools in Uttar Pradesh, from Classes 1 to 8, have been closed till April 11. Examinations in the state will be conducted with Covid-19 protocol.

In the recent past, many states have either fully or partially imposed night curfew amid the resurgence of covid-19 cases. While Delhi and Maharashtra has imposed night curfew across the state, many states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Punjab among others have imposed night curfew in some of their worst hit districts.
