Ambedkar Jayanti 2023: To commemorate the birthday of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, the founder of the Indian Constitution, Ambedkar Jayanti is observed on April 14. Dr. BR Ambedkar, a lawyer, politician, economist, and social reformer, fought for the advancement of Dalits and members of underprivileged communities.
On April 14, 1891, Dr. BR Ambedkar, often known as Babasaheb, was born in Mhow, which is now in Madhya Pradesh. He was Ramji Maloji Sakpal's 14th and final child. Babasaheb, a Dalit from a low-income family, saw the injustices and atrocities that his community endured. Dr. BR Ambedkar and other Dalit students were forbidden from touching the water or the container at school; instead, someone from a higher caste would fill the container for them. Additionally forbidden from sitting in the classroom, Babasaheb used to sit on a gunny sack. The social reformer spent his entire life fighting for the rights of the disadvantaged and strongly opposing social ills like untouchability and caste prejudice.
Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar graduated from Bombay University with degrees in economics and political science. At the age of 22, he obtained his first position with the Baroda State Government and was awarded a scholarship to Columbia University. At Columbia University, Babasaheb earned a master's degree and finished his PhD. Later, he attended the London School of Economics, where he studied political science, economics, and history. He also published on a variety of subjects, including the caste system in India.
