Amid rising in Covid cases Punjab government imposes night curfew

In view of the ever increasing cases of corona virus in Punjab, the state government has decided to further tighten the night curfew. In all the 9 districts where the night curfew has been implemented, the night curfew will now be from 9 am to 5 am. Earlier, night curfew was announced from 11 am to 5 am, but now the corona cases are increasing rapidly, so the curfew period has been extended. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has announced to extend the curfew period.

Night curfew is in force in Punjab, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Mohali, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Ropar districts. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh said that more than 100 cases of corona virus are being reported daily in all these districts, in such a decision it has been decided to extend the duration of the night curfew.

Appealing to all citizens to wear masks and maintain social distance, he warned that fines could be increased if needed. With regard to the demand made by the Chief Minister of Himachal to ban pilgrimage and people coming from Punjab for religious purposes, the Captain said that they are not in favor of prohibiting religious pilgrimage. When he receives a formal letter from the Chief Minister of the neighboring state on this issue, he will take a suitable decision at that time.

Captain knows Sukhbir Badal’s phone situation
The Captain said that he had called Sukhbir Badal, the head of the Shiromani Akali Dal, infected with Corona. At that time he was undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital Mohali. He offered to help in his treatment. Subsequently, Sukhbir Badal was shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The Chief Minister hoped that Sukhbir and other cabinet mates, party MLAs and officials would be healthy soon.

The Chief Minister also said that if anyone sees any symptoms related to corona, then he should immediately go to the doctor and get him examined. He said that the problem is that people are going to the hospital late. He hopes that the central government will allow to increase vaccination in areas of the state where more cases of corona infection are occurring. He made this suggestion in a meeting held on Wednesday through video conferencing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the Chief Ministers of the states.

He said that the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has demanded a ban on pilgrims coming from Punjab for pilgrimage and religious purposes but want to say that he is not in favor of it as it is a religious matter of the people. However, if any formal letter is received from the neighboring state, then they will take a suitable decision on it .
