Indian Army is making all arrangements for essential supplies to reach forward area and heights of eastern Ladakh along the LAC with China ahead of winters.
Indian Army has stocked up the oil depots in Ladakh to supply fuel to the Indian Army troops and protect them from the biting cold ahead of the winter season.
“Several depots have been stocked up for the coming winters. We send our supplies for the forward troops. This fuel oil lubricant depot is the largest and highest depot. The fuel sent from here is used to keep the troops warm in cold weather conditions,” Brigadier Rakesh Manocha told ANI.
The Ladakh region witnesses sub-zero temperatures and is mostly cut off from the rest of the country for months during the winters. As tensions between the armies of India and China at the LAC show no sign of ebbing, both sides have significantly ramped up the presence of their troops.
Accordingly, India’s Army has been beefing up its stocks of food, ammunition, fuel and more importantly the winter gear.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has also, made it clear that India was ready to deal with ‘any situation’
In a statement made in Lok Sabha on the situation in the Ladakh sector, defence minister Rajnath Singh said, “I can assure you that the morale and motivation of our armed forces are very high…They are being provisioned with suitable clothing, habitat and the required defence wherewithal.”
India and China have been engaged in a standoff since April-May over the transgressions by the Chinese Army in multiple areas including the Finger area, Galwan Valley, Hot springs and Kongrung Nala. The situation worsened after 20 Indian soldiers were killed in violent clashes with Chinese troops in Galwan Valley in June.
