Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his address in Delhi, outlined several major achievements of the Modi-led government, targeting opposition parties and emphasizing reforms aimed at empowering citizens. Shah accused the Congress of engaging in vote bank politics and highlighted significant legislative changes introduced under the current administration.

Abolishing Triple Talaq: Empowering Muslim Women

Amit Shah underscored the government’s landmark move to abolish the Triple Talaq system, a practice he claimed had been unjust to Muslim women for years. He accused the Congress of neglecting the issue for political gain and reiterated that the BJP took decisive steps to end the practice.

“We abolished the Triple Talaq and gave rights to Muslim mothers and sisters. Congress did the politics of the vote bank and did injustice to Muslim women for years,” Shah stated. The abolition of Triple Talaq was celebrated as a significant reform for gender equality and empowerment among Muslim women.

New Education Policy: First Major Reform Since Independence

Highlighting reforms in education, Shah praised the 2020 New Education Policy (NEP) as a groundbreaking initiative. “It is the first education policy after independence which even the communists could not oppose,” he said. The NEP aims to overhaul India’s education system by focusing on holistic development, vocational training, and flexibility in learning, marking a departure from previous frameworks.

Shah also spoke about the introduction of three new criminal laws to replace outdated ones enacted during British rule. “The previous ones were 160 years old and made in the British Parliament. PM Modi ‘Indianised’ the justice system of India,” he said. The new criminal laws aim to modernize the legal framework and make it more efficient, accessible, and reflective of India’s democratic ethos.

Amit Shah further mentioned the amendment bill introduced to bring reservation in Jammu and Kashmir, a move aligned with the government’s efforts to integrate the region fully into India’s democratic framework.

Shah’s speech underscored the BJP government’s focus on social justice, education, and legal reforms, while simultaneously attacking opposition parties for prioritizing political gains over meaningful progress.
