Anantnag Encounter: Lashkar Commander Uzair Khan Killed, Army continues search operation, Details

On Tuesday, Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Uzair Khan and another terrorist were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, bringing the seven-day-long Anantnag encounter to a close, as confirmed by an official.

Anantnag Encounter: An official has reported that Uzair Khan, the commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot dead along with another militant on the seventh day of the Anantnag encounter, while authorities are currently conducting a search operation to confirm the death of a third terrorist.

Seven day Anantnag encounter comes to end

ADGP Kashmir Police Vijay Kumar stated that security personnel discovered a weapon on Uzair Khan’s body, marking the end of the seven-day-long encounter, although the search operation will persist. ADGP Vijay Kumar said, “LeT commander Uzair Khan has been killed, with the recovery of his weapon. Additionally, another terrorist’s lifeless body has been found. The Anantnag encounter has concluded, but the search operation continues.”

Last week, on Wednesday, a confrontation erupted between security forces and militants who were concealed in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir. He further said, “There is a huge area that remains to be searched. There can be a lot of unexploded shells which will be recovered and destroyed. We appeal to the people not to go to the area.”

Three soldiers martyred

The ongoing operation to eliminate terrorists, now in its sixth day as of Monday, has been taking place in the Gadole forest area of Anantnag since Wednesday. Tragically, during the operation, three security forces personnel, including Colonel Manpreet Singh, the Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Deputy Superintendent of Jammu and Kashmir Police Humayun Bhat, lost their lives.
