Beneficiaries of the Ujjwala programme currently pay ₹703 instead of ₹903 every 14.2-kg cylinder. They will now pay ₹603 after the Union Cabinet’s decision. Following a meeting of the union cabinet, Union Minister Anurag Thakur gave a press conference and announced a ₹100 increase in the subsidy amount for LPG cylinders for Ujjwala beneficiaries.

Government Reduces LPG Cylinder Costs for Ujjwala Beneficiaries by ₹100

Anurag Thakur said, “During the past nine years, a lot of development work has been done for the welfare of women and the poor. Last month, on the eve of Rakshabandhan, when the prices of domestic LPG were reduced by ₹200, it reached about ₹900. However, for the Ujjwala beneficiaries, it was ₹700.” The price of a 14.2 kilogramme LPG cooking gas cylinder was decreased by 200 by the government in August. The government would cover the cost of the promised ₹200 price cut on family cooking gas cylinders, relieving the oil marketing corporations of the expected loss of ₹7,500 crore, according to Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.
