An army helicopter crashed and sank in Ranjit Sagar, Basohli. Police, army and administration officials are present at the spot. A shepherd who was grazing cattle on the banks of the lake said that he saw a helicopter landing in Ranjit Sagar from the sky. On seeing him, the whole helicopter got absorbed in the lake.

He also told that he did not see any army personnel coming to the shore from the damaged helicopter. At the same time, CRPF, police personnel, who reached the spot shortly after the accident, started searching for the helicopter that fell in the lake and the soldiers in it. According to media reports, at around 10.20 am on Tuesday morning, Indian Army helicopter 254 Army AVN Squadron took off from Mamoon Cantt. It is being told that the helicopter was taking rounds at a low altitude near the dam, during which the accident happened.

According to reports, the helicopter took off from Pathankot in Punjab. The helicopter crashed near Ranjit Sagar Dam in Jammu region due to some technical snag. The area of ​​Ranjit Sagar Dam is adjoining both the districts of Pathankot and Kathua, hence it connects the two states.
