Evading ED summons

The Ed has stated that “During the investigation, it was revealed that Anil Jaisinghani was involved in cricket betting activities and had accumulated huge sums of money through his fraudulent activities, through persons connected with Maruti-Ahmedabad, an entity engaged in betting activities.” Jaisinghani had been evading ED summons from 2015 and a Special PMLA court issued a non-bailable warrant against Jaisinghani. Despite this Jaisinghani did not cooperate with ongoing PMLA investigation. He was arrested in a money laundering case related to IPL betting by ED on April 8, 2023. The agency had filed a charge sheet on June 6 before a Special PMLA court in Ahmedabad, while a search was carried out at his premises on June 9.

Extortion and Blackmail of Amruta Fadnavis

A chargesheet was filed by Mumbai Police against Anil and his daughter Anshika for extorting and blackmailing Amruta Fadnavis. Anshika established a connection with Amrita as a designer and befriended her after the latter became her regular client, renting clothes and jewellery for events. Anshika subsequently disclosed Amruta about her father’s bookie activities and operations. Anshika suggested Amruta to use her political connections to make raids on bookie locations and make money for both of them. Anshika, allegedly tried to persuade Amruta to dismiss criminal cases against her father. Mumbai police also revealed that Anil offered a bribe of Rs 1 crore to Amruta Fadnavis in order to use her husband’s influence to quash criminal cases registered against him.
