Mr. Venugopal, 91, requested that the Center let him go when his three years were up in 2020 because of his advanced age. He was asked by the government to serve another term. He remained, albeit for barely two years.

According to sources, Mukul Rohatgi will start his second stint on October 1. He has also previously held the position of Additional Solicitor General for India.

The administration engaged him on delicate legal matters

As per sources, even after Mr. Rohatgi left office in 2017, the administration engaged him on delicate legal matters, like as the repeal of Article 370, which gave Jammu and Kashmir a unique status.

In 2014, shortly after the BJP won a sizable majority and took office, Mr. Rohatgi was chosen to serve as the top Attorney for the government for his first term.

Mr. Rohatgi has won a number of significant cases

One of the most well-known attorneys in India, Mr. Rohatgi has won a number of significant cases, including the Gujarat riots case in which he represented the Gujarat government. Additionally, he argued the National Judicial Appointment Commission case. The defence team for Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan, who was detained in the drugs-on-cruise case, was led by Mr. Rohatgi more recently.
