A self styled godman, Dhirendra Shastri has been grabbing headlines after he allegedly ran away post an anti-superstition organisation challenged him during a Nagpur event. Reportedly, he failed to perform his ‘miracle’ after Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti challenged him during his Ramkatha event in Nagpur.
Bageshwar Dham ‘baba’ controversy
A few videos from the said incident of the ‘baba’ went viral on social media. Following this, citing conspiracy, he challenged the committee to attend his Raipur event on January 21-22. He said that he predicted the controversy as he has conducted the “ghar wapasi of 160 families,” adding that it’s not in the wrong for these families to spend crores in his court.
After the Andhashradha Nirmoolan Samiti accused the baba of promoting superstition, he challenged them to come to his court to watch is ‘miracles’ live.

‘Baba’ Dhirendra Shastri is serving as the preist with the Bageshwar Dham temple in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh. Dhirendra Shashtri was born in 1996 in Gadaganj village of Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh) district. His entire family still lives in Gadaganj. His grandfather Pt. Bhagwan Das Garg was also the priest of Bageshwar Dham.
Dhirendra Shastri spent his childhood in extreme poverty with his entire family living in a mud house. He reportedly started working as a priest at a mere age of 11 after completing his primary education from a government school in his village.
With his excellent communication skills and charming persona, he has amassed hundreds of thousand followers who come to his court in Chhatarpur’s Gaga village.
Bageshwar Dham Sarkar is famous for predicting his devotees’ future and writing it on a paper chit. “I have acquired the skill by the grace of God, our Gurus and the power of the mantras of Sanatan Dharma,” he said while talking about his miracle prowess.
