Bengaluru: Ola, Uber, and Rapido's auto-rickshaw services in Karnataka will end in three days. This is in response to the decision issued on Thursday by the Karnataka transport department, which referred to the auto services offered by these ride-hailing platform businesses as "illegal."

The On-Demand Transportation Technology Act of 2016 has been cited by the government as making the motor services provided by cab aggregators "illegal." It has been requested that the car aggregators produce a report.

There were complaints about how Ola and Uber charge a minimum of Rs 100 even for trips under 2 kilometers

According to the transport department, a number of commuters have complained about how Ola and Uber charge a minimum of Rs 100 even for trips under two kilometres. Bengaluru's minimum auto charge is set at Rs 30 for the first 2 km and Rs 15 for each additional kilometre.

The Karnataka On-Demand Transportation Technology Aggregators Rules, 2016, according to Transport Commissioner THM Kumar, have given these businesses licences to operate exclusively taxis. Automobiles are exempt from the rules.

According to a ToI report, he said, "Taxis means a motor cab having a seating capacity not exceeding six people, excluding the driver."

On September 9, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) also issued a warning and requested that Indian cab aggregators (CAs) like Ola, Uber, and Meru develop explicit and open procedures regarding the division of money resulting from surge pricing between the CAs and the drivers.

According to the department's warning, ride-hailing businesses must cease offering auto services as soon as possible and must also refrain from charging taxi customers more than the set fares. In addition, the agency threatened legal punishment if they disregarded the directive.
"The aggregators are operating their autorickshaw business in defiance of the aforementioned rules. Additionally, the agency has learned that clients are being charged prices that are greater than those set by the government "the additional letter.

The same statement was repeated by L Hemanth Kumar, additional commissioner for transportation and secretary of the State Transport Authority: "They are not supposed to operate auto rickshaws with a cab-aggregator licence." Rules for aggregaters only apply to taxis. We've requested that they stop using the app to book auto rickshaws and file a report," he continued.
