The impact of Yatra on Congress’ political future in 2024

The Bharat Jodo Yatra has succeeded in capturing the nation’s attention. The Yatra has a good probability of having an impact on Congress’ political future in 2024. The Yatra, however, is apolitical in Rahul’s opinion because it is intended to serve as a binding force for a nation that is teetering precariously on the brink of social fragmentation, majoritarianism, and escalating socio-economic disparities. The Yatra has amassed a wave of support, and people from all spheres of society are eager to participate. In addition to exposing rising unemployment, it has gained momentum for its stated intention to combat the BJP’s politics of intolerance.

Rahul might have chosen the best moment to leave his ivory tower. In a democracy, citizens must connect and mix with politicians, and Rahul has accomplished this by inviting children, movie stars, middle-aged people, and senior citizens to participate in his Yatra. He is a leader who avoids using rhetorical dog whistles to win over followers. The Yatra’s clear message is that the mind is not constrained by reductionist factors like religion, caste, or nationality.

Yatra’s crowning achievement

Long distance foot travel is challenging and can try even the most physically and mentally resilient people’s patience. Rahul has been observed engaging in enthusiastic conversations with people of various religions during his Yatra, and they have all fallen in step with him because of his upbeat and affable body language. This is the Yatra’s crowning achievement—the physical barrier between a politician and the general public has vanished all at once. A model for active public discussion on the need for an inclusive society has been formed by the Yatra.
