Bihar: After identifying Kashmir as a separate country, a question on the English test given to class 7 children at a school in Kishanganj, Bihar, has caused a significant uproar.

Students were asked in the exam what the inhabitants of five nations are called: China, Nepal, England, Kashmir, and India.

As the BJP harshly denounced the oversight and charged the Nitish Kumar-led Grand Alliance government with appeasement tactics, the situation quickly took on a political hue.

"It is not an error; rather, it is a part of Nitish Kumar's scheme," BJP

"This is an attempt to give breath to the politics of appeasement of the Mahagathbandhan," BJP District President Sushant Gope stated. "There is an effort to separate Kashmir and India in children's thoughts. It is not an error; rather, it is a part of Nitish Kumar's scheme to gather support ahead of the forthcoming elections," he added.

"Misspelling caused by a human error," school officials

However, school officials made it clear that the Bihar Education Board arranged the exam for government institutions. What appeared on the exam paper was a misspelling caused by a human error; the original question had been, "What are people from Kashmir called?"

A similar situation came to light in 2017 when the same question was asked, therefore this is not the first time such a question has been presented in an exam.

Shahid Rabbani, the head of AIMIM, said: "If there was an error, it needs to be fixed. Strict measures should be taken if it was done on purpose. Government has no involvement in this, and politicians shouldn't be involved."
