BJP Files FIR against Congress Leaders Priyanka Gandhi, Kamal Nath, and Arun Yadav over “X” Post

Priyanka Gandhi: The Indore Police stated on Saturday that they have officially lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the alleged “handlers” of the ‘X’ accounts linked to senior Congress leaders. Priyanka Gandhi had posted a tweet alleging the govt taking a 50 percent commission. Nonetheless, the BJP has unequivocally refuted these claims. The BJP’s legal division has initiated First Information Reports (FIRs) across 41 districts, targeting not only Priyanka Gandhi but also numerous other leaders, including Kamal Nath and Arun Yadav.

Indore Police clarifies the stance

In a statement shared on the X platform (formerly Twitter), the Indore Police Commissioner issued a statement on Saturday evening. The statement revealed that Nimesh Pathak, the legal cell convener of the local BJP, had lodged a complaint. The complaint pertained to the dissemination of a counterfeit letter attributed to an individual named Gyanendra Awasthi, which had been circulated across social media channels. The fabricated letter alleged that contractors within the state were being coerced into paying a commission of 50 percent.

A case has been formally filed against Mr. Awasthi and the individuals responsible for managing the ‘X’ accounts associated with Ms. Vadra, Mr. Nath, and Arun Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city, as stated in the release. The complaint made by Mr. Pathak is presently undergoing investigation.

Earlier in the day, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) had been registered at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city. This FIR was lodged against the Twitter accounts linked to Ms. Vadra, Mr. Nath, and Arun Yadav. The case was filed under sections 420 (related to cheating) and 469 (related to forgery with the intention to damage reputation) of the Indian Penal Code based on Mr. Pathak’s complaint.

Mr. Pathak has asserted that the Congress leaders engaged in a conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the reputation of the state government and his political party. They allegedly accomplished this by disseminating “deceptive” content through social media posts and leveling accusations of corruption against the BJP administration in the state. An official source stated that the police are currently in the process of authenticating the legitimacy of the implicated Twitter accounts.

What did Priyanka Gandhi tweet?

Priyanka Gandhi had tweeted, “The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect 40% commission. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has gone ahead by breaking its own record of corruption. People of Karnataka ousted the 40% commission government, now the people of Madhya Pradesh will remove the 50% commission government from power.”

MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra previously labeled Priyanka Gandhi’s accusations as baseless and urged her to provide substantiating evidence for her claims. He cautioned that failing to do so could lead to the exploration of legal avenues by the state government and the BJP.
