BJP MLA Pushkar Singh Dhami has become the 11th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. Ahead of taking the office charges, he spoke to a leading daily about being appointed as the CM of the mountain state.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a democratic party that has given a simple, soldier's son the opportunity to become chief minister of Uttarakhand," Dhami told India Today.
"The party is my mother," Dhami said, adding that the party has given him the role to work as "mukhya sevak" (chief servant).
Speaking about the change in leadership in Uttarakhand, he said, "We are a democratic party and it looks at prevailing circumstances. My seniors are more capable than me but I'll try to work with them and take the state forward."
"A lot of work has been happening. People know who has worked for them and who played appeasement politics. The 2020 assembly election is a challenge but I will turn it into an opportunity," he said.
Talking about fake covid tests scam in Haridwar's Kumbh Mela, the leader said that the matter is currently under investigation and those responsible will not be spared.
He also spoke about possibility of reshuffle in his cabinet and said that the homework is on.
Uttarakhand is schedule to hold Assembly Elections next year.
