The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday announced its first list of 57 candidates for the hotly anticiapted eleection in West Bengal that are scheduled to take place in eight phase from March 27 to April 29.
The party has fielded close aide Suvendu Adhikari against Chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee for the prestigious Nandigram Assembly seat in East Midnapore.
Announcing the list of candidates, BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said the BJP’s Central Election Committee has approved the names of candidates on 57 seats for West Bengal Assembly elections.
“BJP's Central Election Committee has approved the names of candidates on 57 seats for West Bengal Assembly elections,” BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said as he released the list.
Earlier on Friday, Mamata Banerjee had announced the list of 291 candidates for the high octane upcoming polls. She said she has decided to contest from Nandigram seat only. The TMC list includes 50 women, 42 muslim candidates.
