BJP’s Poonawalla slams Congress’ Satyagraha as ‘Duragraha,’ says ‘Congress undermines Mahatma Gandhi’s principles’

Shehzad Poonawalla: Shehzad Poonawalla, the national spokesperson for the BJP, lashed out at the Congress on Sunday, claiming that the party’s “Sankalp Satyagraha” is actually a “Duragraha” directed at the Other Backward Class (OBC) and the nation’s courts. Poonawalla claimed that Congress’s Satyagraha, which was started on Sunday in protest of Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification, reflected their “Duragraha” for the law and the constitution. Because Rahul Gandhi was found guilty by a court in a defamation lawsuit, he explained.

By permitting Jagdish Tytler, who was charged with starting the anti-Sikh riots in 1984, to take part in the Satyagraha, he said, it was also against the Sikh community. Jagdish Tytler, a former Congress member and suspect in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, joined the party’s demonstration at Raj Ghat in opposition to Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification. Sankalp Satyagraha is being held by the Congress at Raj Ghat. On Sunday, Priyanka Gandhi arrived at Raj Ghat for the demonstration. Together with other party leaders, the protest included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal, and several other party officials.

Congress had repeatedly added salt to the Sikh community’s wounds

Poonawalla claimed that Congress had repeatedly added salt to the Sikh community’s wounds. He asserted that Tytler received special treatment from Congress during the MCD elections and the Bharat Jodo Yatra as well. Poonawalla claimed that whereas Rahul Gandhi insulted the country, the poor, weaker communities, and the OBC samaj, Mahatma Gandhi fought to unite India. On Friday, Rahul Gandhi was declared ineligible to serve in the Lok Sabha, one day after a Surat court gave him a two-year prison term in a defamation case brought against him because of his remark about the “Modi surname.”
