Budget Session second part: Adani Controversy, Misuse of Central Agencies Likely To Take Center Stage, Report

Budget Session second part: In the midst of an ongoing political scuffle between the opposition parties and the BJP-led Centre on a number of topics, the second phase of the Budget session starts on Monday. Massive demonstrations by opposition leaders on the Adani controversy and other issues took place throughout the first part of the session. In the second portion of the session, the parties are now ready to corner the administration over a number of topics.

Three northeastern states held elections prior to the second phase of the Budget session, and among other things, the central authorities questioned a number of opposition leaders. Also, the Center will attempt to clear 35 pending measures during this House session.

Oppn Leaders To Meet Ahead Of Session

To improve their floor strategy for the second leg of the Budget session, opposition party leaders will meet on Monday morning, according to PTI.

About 10 am, the opposition leaders are expected to gather at Mallikarjun Kharge, the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabhaoffice ,’s in the Parliament complex. Before the meeting, Congress MPs are also anticipated to congregate at the Congress Parliamentary Party office to discuss the party’s strategy.

‘Misuse’ Of Probe Agencies Issue

Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), two national investigative organisations, have recently been working on a number of cases by conducting raids and searches around the nation. The opposition parties are displeased with the latest action taken by the agencies against Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi. In response to the action taken against Sisodia, several opposition leaders wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Adani Row Likely To Be Brought Up Again

The first leg of the Budget session was significantly impacted by the Hindenburg report on Indian conglomerate Gautam Adani’s firms, with the opposition calling for an investigation into the topic as a whole. Since that time, the leaders have urged the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to look into the matter.

Tripura Post poll Violence

The results of the elections in Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland were positive for the BJP because it joined the coalition that rules in each of those three states. But, it is likely that during the second stage of the budget session, the topic of post-poll violence in Tripura would be brought up.

A Left-Congress delegation stated on Saturday that it will bring the violence and confrontations in Tripura to the attention of the entire country by bringing the subject up in Parliament.

Rahul Gandhi’s Comments In UK

Rahul Gandhi, a Congressman, visited the UK, and his visit caused a stir in Indian politics as well. His statements about the “threat” to Indian democracy and the “voice of opposition” being stifled did not sit well with the nation’s current political climate. Since then, the BJP has been criticising the leader for his “anti-national” and “insulting” comments made against a foreign country. His statements at Cambridge University and his opinions of the RSS elicited vehement criticism from the Indian BJP.
