Centre declines Mamata Banerjee’s request to attend World Peace Conference

The Union Ministry of External Affairs has declined West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee‘s request to attend the World Peace Conference scheduled for October at the Vatican.

The permission was denied due to a “political angle” and because the “event is not commensurate in status for participation by the chief minister of a state”.
