Chaitra Navratri 2023

Chaitra Navratri 2023: Chaitra Navratri is a nine-day-long Hindu festival celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a different form of Maa Durga, the goddess of power and strength. On the third day of Navratri, Mother Chandraghanta is worshipped. This form of the goddess represents gentleness and peace. The fragrance and sound of divinity are felt in this form, just like the moon. Worshipping Maa Chandraghanta is believed to provide spiritual power and benefits.

The Look of Maa Chandraghanta

This form of Maa Chandraghanta is very peaceful and auspicious, and the lion is her conveyance. The mother goddess is adorned with an hourglass-shaped crescent on her forehead, hence the name Chandraghanta. She is depicted with ten hands, holding weapons such as a sword, trishul, bow, and mace. It is said that Maa Chandraghanta incarnated to kill demons, and she possesses the powers of the three gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh.

To please Maa Chandraghanta, it is believed that she likes the colours gold or yellow. Devotees decorate the idol of the goddess with clothes of these colours and wear the same while worshipping her. Sweets made of milk, kheer, and makhana can be offered to the deity. Offering garlands of white lotus and yellow roses to Maa Chandraghanta is considered auspicious and pleases the goddess.

These are the prayer mantras

"Pindaj Pravararudha Chandkopastrakairuta, Prasadam Tanute Mahyam Chandraghanteti Vishruta"

And the hymn of praise "Ya Devi Sarvabhuteshu Maa Chandraghanta Rupen Sansthita, Namastasyai Namastasyai Namastasyai Namo Namah" is also believed to be beneficial during the worship of Maa Chandraghanta.

The most auspicious time to worship the goddess is during the Brahma Muhurta, which is from 4:47 am to 5:34 am. The Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, from 6:21 am to 1:22 pm, the Abhijit Muhurta, from 12:03 pm to 12:52 pm, and the Vijay Muhurta, from 2:30 pm to 3:19 pm, are also considered favourable times to perform the puja.
