Chandrayaan 3: ISRO announces Chandrayaan has completed two of its three objectives

Chandrayaan 3: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) reported significant progress on the Chandrayaan-3 mission, with two of its three primary goals successfully achieved. The space agency shared the update on its official social media account. According to ISRO, the lander named Vikram from the Chandrayaan-3 mission has achieved a secure and gentle landing on the lunar surface. Additionally, the rover named Pragyan has effectively maneuvered across the Moon’s surface.

The mission’s remaining objective involves conducting in-situ scientific experiments, which are currently in progress. ISRO emphasized that all scientific payloads on the mission are functioning as expected.

Earlier, ISRO released a video showcasing the rover, Pragyan, navigating the lunar landscape. The rover was seen exploring an area called Shiv Shakti Point at the Moon’s South Pole.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended their efforts

During a meeting with ISRO scientists in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended their efforts. He announced that the location of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar landing would be designated as ‘Shiv Shakti Point’ moving forward. Furthermore, he declared August 23, the date of the successful Moon landing, as National Space Day.

In summary, ISRO shared that the Chandrayaan-3 mission has accomplished its landing and rover mobility objectives, with only the in-situ scientific experiments remaining. Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged these achievements, assigning the landing site a new name and designating the Moon landing date as a day to celebrate space exploration in India.
