Chandrayaan-3 Landing Site Named Shiv Shakti; PM Modi Hails ISRO Heroes in Emotional Meet, Announces “National Space Day”

PM Narendra Modi commended Isro scientists and officials during a meeting at the Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) located in the Peenya industrial area of Bengaluru. He praised their efforts for the accomplishment of Chandrayaan-3. He also announced that the Chandrayaan-3’s touchdown point will be named as Shiv Shakti.

PM Modi interacts with ISRO scientists

This morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru after completing his two-nation visit. During his discussion of Chandrayaan-3’s achievement, the Prime Minister became emotional and stated, “India has reached the moon.”Around 7:30 am, he met with the Isro scientists and delivered an address. During the interaction, Isro chairman S Somanath presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with tokens of appreciation and gifted him a replica of the Vikram lander.

Expressing his delight, he mentioned that the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 brought him immense joy. He expressed his desire to meet the scientists as soon as he returned to the country to convey his gratitude and appreciation to them.

Announces “National Space Day”

At the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network Mission Control Complex in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the location where the moon lander of Chandrayaan-3 successfully touched down will be named ‘Shivshakti’. PM Modi stated, “On 23rd August, India hoisted national flag on the Moon. From now onwards, that day will be known as National Space Day in India.”

Continuing further, PM Modi said, “he spot on the lunar surface where the Chandrayaan-2 left its footprints will be known as ‘Tiranga’. This will be an inspiration for every effort made by India. It will remind us any failure is not final.”

During his discussion of Chandrayaan-3’s achievement, the Prime Minister became emotional and stated, “India is on the moon.” In his adress, he said, “India is on the moon. We reached a place where no one had reached before. We did what no one had ever done before. This is today’s India – BOLD and BRAVE.” Addressing the Isro scientists, PM Modi also highlighted that experts anticipate India’s space sector to grow from $8 billion to $16 billion within a few years.
