Bangladesh’s Official Response

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka expressed “utter dismay and deep hurt” over the MEA’s statement. The government clarified that Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested based on specific charges and criticized attempts to misrepresent the incident. It emphasized that these allegations undermine facts and mischaracterize Bangladesh’s dedication to fostering religious harmony.

Commitment to Religious Inclusivity

The statement reiterated Bangladesh's commitment to safeguarding the rights of religious minorities and promoting communal harmony. The government pointed to the peaceful celebration of Durga Puja last month as evidence of its efforts to ensure inclusivity and protect religious freedoms for all communities.

Independence of Judiciary

Bangladesh underscored that its judiciary operates independently, asserting that the case against Sri Chinmoy Krishna Das is being handled according to legal procedures. It urged all parties to respect the due process of law, stressing that the government refrains from interfering in judicial matters.

The response reflects Bangladesh’s resolve to address concerns diplomatically while maintaining its stance on the importance of religious harmony and judicial independence.
