CJP Protest 2.0 – Hit Or Phuss? Abhijeet Dipke In Preventive Arrest, Neha Bora Arrested, Then Released

The Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) "Lehra Do Tiranga" protest march in New Delhi resulted in a sweeping police clampdown. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke was placed under preventive arrest for violating a peace bond.

The highly anticipated CJP Protest 2.0 met with an aggressive law enforcement response in the national capital, stalling the “Lehra Do Tiranga” march before it could properly commence. Demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral roll irregularities, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and the All India Students’ Association (AISA) attempted to gather at Central Park in Connaught Place. However, a heavy police presence and a string of swift detentions transformed the high-stakes rally into a tactical standoff.

Dipke in Preventive Custody, Bora Released

The Delhi Police pre-emptively disrupted the agitation by targeting the movement’s prominent faces. Abhijeet Dipke, the founder of the CJP, was intercepted and placed under preventive arrest under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Officials cited concerns regarding a breach of peace and noted that Dipke had allegedly violated the conditions of a previously signed peace bond.

Simultaneously, AISA national president Neha Bora was forcefully detained near Mandi House. Following intense political backlash and structural outcries from student bodies, Bora was eventually released early Saturday morning after spending nearly 12 hours in custody. Her release was processed under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

Hit or Phuss? The Movement’s Dilemma

Whether the protest can be labelled a “Hit” or a total collapse (“Phuss”) remains a polarising debate. Critics argue the state machinery successfully deflated the gathering, with over 150 demonstrators detained and the core venue completely sealed off by security forces.

Conversely, organisers claim a moral victory. Despite the arrest of its top leadership, Left student bodies and allied opposition groups managed to bypass several security blocks to briefly wave the national flag in the heart of Delhi. While the physical gathering was contained, the aggressive police clampdown has reignited national headlines, ensuring the anti-CEC agitation remains active in the public eye.
