Arvind Kejriwal: The Tihar jail administration has denied Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, permission to contact her detained husband, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) stated Sunday. According to the BJP, Sunita Kejriwal asked permission to meet with her husband on April 29 (Monday), but the Tihar jail authorities denied her plea.

Scheduled Meetings with Arvind Kejriwal

“Sunita Kejriwal was supposed to meet him tomorrow (Monday) but the Tihar administration has denied permission. The jail administration has not cited any reason for denying the permission,” a PTI report quoted AAP sources as saying. Tihar jail authorities did not immediately respond to the AAP’s charges.

Meanwhile, Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi is slated to meet with Arvind Kejriwal on Monday, while Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will do so on Tuesday. According to the Tihar jail rulebook, only two people can meet a prisoner at a time, with a maximum of four each week.

Sunita Kejriwal’s First Election Roadshow in East Delhi

Notably, Sunita Kejriwal is leading the AAP’s Lok Sabha election campaign in the absence of her husband. Sunita performed her first Lok Sabha election roadshow on Saturday in East Delhi’s Kondli neighborhood.

According to senior AAP leaders, Sunita Kejriwal will lead the party’s electoral campaign and hold roadshows while her husband, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, remains in Delhi’s Tihar jail following his arrest in an alleged money laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) linked to the purported excise policy “scam” case.
