The local Congress workers in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria thrashed a female member, Tara Yadav for protesting against the party candidate from the district, claiming he was a rape accused.
“On one hand, our party leaders are fighting for justice for #HathrasCase victim, and on the other hand, party ticket is being given to a rapist. It is the wrong decision. It will malign the image of our party,” Tara Yadav had said.
“I was thrashed by party workers when I questioned the party’s decision to give a ticket to a rapist, Mukund Bhaskar, for upcoming by-polls. Now, I’m waiting for Priyanka Gandhi ji to take action,” she said.
Ironically this comes after the Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are protesting against the Hathras incident and highlighting women safety concerns in the country.
Congress has filed an inquiry panel over this behavior towards its candidate as the video goes viral on social media.
Meanwhile, the BJP is not losing the opportunity to embarrass the Congress. Sports minister Kiren Rijiju has already tweeted about the incident.
