Mathura: On Thursday, December 14, a significant development occurred in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute: a court-appointed advocate commissioner began conducting a survey inside the Mathura Shahi Idgah premises. This survey is in accordance with the order from the Justice Mayank Kumar-led Allahabad High Court bench, which approved the appointment of a court commissioner for the disputed area next to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple.
Judicial Development on November 16
The court’s ruling follows Justice Mayank Kumar Jain’s November 16 reservation of the order regarding the application pertaining to the ongoing lawsuit involving the dispute over the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque. Bhagwan Sri Krishna Virajman, the god, and seven other gods through their representatives filed the application, citing the assertion that the mosque is where Lord Sri Krishna was born. They presented proof showing the mosque was originally a Hindu temple.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain’s Representation
Representing the applicants, Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain emphasised that the location exhibits features of a Hindu temple, including a pillar shaped like a lotus and an image of a Hindu deity called ‘Sheshnaag,’ who is associated with protecting Lord Krishna on the night of his birth. Additionally, it was observed that the base of the mosque’s pillars had Hindu religious symbols and engravings.
Court-Appointed Survey Request
The request was for the appointment of a commission to carry out a survey within a certain time frame and record the procedure with pictures and videos. In order to provide the court with a thorough resolution of the dispute, it was imperative that factual aspects be presented. The Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute in Mathura was brought under the purview of the Allahabad High Court earlier this year, which consolidated the legal proceedings for a resolution.
