Covid-19 update: India adds 30,254 cases in last 24-hour

India's covid-19 tally has reached 98.57 lakh with 30,254 new infections detected in the last 24-hour. With 391 more people dying due to the virus, the overall fatality has reached 1,43,019, the Ministry of health and welfare said in its 8:00 am update.

A total of 33,136 people have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recovered tally to 93,57,464. Currently, there are 3,56,546 active cases in the country. While the recovery rate stands at 94.93 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.45 as per cent.

A total of 15,37,11,833 samples have been tested for Covid-19 till now. Of these, 10,14,434 samples were tested on Friday, said Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Here's some more updates:

*Kerala, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana account for 72 per cent of overall cases in the country.

*Telangana recorded 573 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths, taking the tally to 2,77,724 and the count to 1,493, the health officials reported.

*Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 1,11,366 as 189 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Sunday.

* Pfizer, which was approved by the United States on Monday for emergency use, will start rolling their vaccine for covid-19 in the country from Monday morning, said General Gustave Perna, head of the Donald Trump-led administration's Operation Warp Speed, on Saturday.

*Assam registered no COVID-19 deaths on Saturday, while 152 new cases pushed the tally to 2,14,584, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

* Andhra Pradesh recorded 510 new Covid positive cases, increasing the state's tally to 8.75 lakh, even as 665 more patients recovered from the virus to outnumber infections on Saturday.

*The covid-19 cases in the United States have topped the grim milestone of 16 million on Saturday.

*Another 21,502 people in Britain have tested positive for Covid-19, pushing the tally in the country to 1,830,956, according to official figures released.

Meanwhile, the overall number of global coronavirus cases has topped 71.6 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 1.60 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
