The vaccination drive in India is set to begin from January 16. The central government stated in a press release and said the rollout of the COVID vaccine will be provided on priority basis to 3 Crore healthcare and frontline workers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also tweeted and shared the information regarding the vaccine roll-out plan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “On 16th January, India takes a landmark step forward in fighting COVID-19. Starting that day, India’s nation-wide vaccination drive begins. Priority will be given to our brave doctors, healthcare workers, frontline workers including Safai Karamcharis.”
The DGCI has recently approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine COVISHIELD and Bharat Biotech COVAXIN. The dry run of these two vaccines is also being conducted nationwide.
