Delhi is preparing for the CJP protest scheduled at Jantar Mantar on October 10, with authorities putting in place extensive security arrangements across the national capital. Around 23,000 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel have been made available to assist the Delhi Police, while additional measures are being taken to manage the expected mobilisation.
DON'T MISS
The security preparations include monitoring entry points into Delhi, increased deployment around central areas and the use of body-worn cameras by frontline personnel.
23,000 CAPF Personnel Deployed for Security
The Union Home Ministry has provided 221 CAPF companies, comprising roughly 23,000 personnel, to assist the Delhi Police during the protest period. Additional Delhi Police personnel are also expected to be deployed for crowd management and security duties.
Authorities are particularly focusing on areas around Jantar Mantar, government buildings and routes leading towards central Delhi. Barricading and surveillance measures are also being strengthened.
Police Alert PG Owners and Educational Institutions
Delhi Police are reaching out to paying guest accommodation owners, universities, colleges and Resident Welfare Associations in areas with large student populations.
Officials have asked PG owners and educational institutions to inform students about restrictions applicable in the New Delhi district and discourage participation in unauthorised gatherings. Police are also monitoring possible movement of large groups towards the capital ahead of the protest.
150 Bodycams Issued to Delhi Police
As part of the security arrangements, around 150 body-worn cameras have been issued to personnel deployed for crowd management and protest-related duties.
The cameras are intended to provide video records of interactions between police personnel and protesters, particularly during crowd-control operations and detentions. The move comes amid recent allegations concerning police conduct during demonstrations, which the Delhi Police has denied.
