Delhi News: Surprisingly for the first time, The national Capital’s base weather station Safdarjung did not record a single day of heat wave even during the extreme summer season. The heat wave conditions in the capital are usually moderate by the month of June and the IMD has predicted that a heat wave is unlikely in the coming week. According to the Met Department, heat wave usually means when the temperature crosses 40 degrees or maximum it goes till 45 degrees. Although heat wave has been recorded in some other areas of Delhi like Ridge in North Delhi, Mungeshpur, Najafgarh and Sports Complex in the Common Wealth Games Village for three to four days. But the same conditions were not recorded at Safdarjung, Lodhi Road, Palam and Ayanagar.

Monsoon reaches Kerala
According to the Met Department, most Heat wave occurs between the month of April and the initial days of the month of June. But this year the temperatures are different. April 16 was the only day when the temperature had gone to 40 degrees but later around April 20, temperature started dipping. A senior IMD official said that the National Capital recorded rain and thunderstorms due to the influence of Western Disturbances. This has affected the plains of North West Delhi.
The IMD had said that the ‘Cyclone Biparjoy’ has been affecting the intensity of the monsoon and the onset over the Southern state will be ‘mild’. Although Monsoon arrived in Kerala on May 29 last last year. IMD also said that since Kerala has received Monsoon late this year, this does not mean that other states will also get delayed. Hopefully other states will receive Monsoon on time.
