It is customary to gift marigold, crimson, and lotus flowers. Pomegranate (anaar) must be included among the five fruits that are served. At places of worship, some people keep a pen and ink pot.
Coins made of silver and gold are revered as a representation of Goddess Lakshmi. Earthen lamps must be lighted and positioned at the front door and other strategic locations throughout the house after preparation and before puja begins.

Diwali 2022 Importance

The festival of Diwali recalls Lord Rama’s 14-year absence from Ayodhya. On Vijayadashami Day, Lord Rama vanquished Lankapati Ravana, and on this day, together with his wife Devi Sita and brother Lakshmana, he went back to Ayodhya. The victory of good over evil was symbolised by the lighting of millions of diyas to welcome him.
