Diwali 2023: It’s a Good News for all the Indians living in the New York city, the Diwali Festival will now be treated as State Holiday as declared by the city Mayor. Many Indians living in the city had to apply for leave in advance if they wish to celebrate the festival with their families. After making the announcement the Mayor has called it a significant win for the families.

The Mayor also said that he is hoping that the Governor will also give nod for the bill. He says, I know it’s a little early in the year, but ‘Shubh Diwali’ This new holiday will be replaced by ‘Brooklyn Queen’s Day’ in the Calendar. The Mayor also shared that the New York city is made for everyone, no matter where you come from.
‘It will be a day off from school for the first time’
This year the Diwali Festival is falling on a Sunday and hence it will be a holiday in the schools for the first time in 2024. However Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the United Nations and met President Joe Biden. The PM also addressed the Indian Community members during his visit. PM said that both the nations will keep working together to make a planet a better place for the upcoming Generations.
