DMK, PMK shows disappointment over SC’s verdict on Selum-Chennai Expressway

Two political parties in Tamil Nadu have expressed their disappointment over the Supreme Court verdict which came in the favour of the 10,000 crore Salem-Chennai expressway project.

The parties DMK and PMK has urged the state government to drop the project and not evade by calling it a Central project. The farmers’ organizations led by All India Kisan Mahasabha from various districts of Tamil Nadu will meet tomorrow to decide the next course of action in the aftermath of the Supreme Court order, upholding the land acquisition notifications for the Chennai-Salem 8-lane 277-km long expressway, overturning the Madras high court judgment.

The apex court gave its go-ahead for the Rs 10,000-crore project, partially allowing appeals of the central government and the National Highway Authority of India State secretary of AIKM has said that more than 30 thousand families will be directly impacted because of this project
