Donald Trump: Unable to Convince Vladimir Putin, US President Targets India Yet Again on Tariffs, Says ‘Could Raise….’

Donald Trump: United States President Donald Trump has threatened to impose additional tariffs on India for buying Russian oil.

Donald Trump: United States President Donald Trump has remarked that he could increase the existing tariffs on Indian imports.

What Did Donald Trump Remarked?

Trump remarked USA would not hesitate to impose additional tariffs on India if the country did not help with the Russian old issue. The US President also mentioned the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he was a good guy who knew very well that the USA President was not happy.

The US President made the remarks during a briefing about the next steps of United States after Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. Many experts believe that the oil reserve of Venezuela was a central factor in the latest strikes on the South American nation.

The remarks of Trump came months after it was claimed by the US President that India had assured him that the Modi-led government would stop purchasing Russian oil. However, India denied the assertion that no such conversation between the two leaders ever happened.

USA Tariffs on India

In 2025, Trump imposed a reciprocal tariff of 25 percent on India and a penalty of 25 percent for buying oil from Russia. Trump has been unable to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to enter  into a peace deal and has been accusing India all the way that it is supporting the Russian cause by continuing buying Russian oil.
