India and France commemorate 25th year of strategic partnership

While India and France commemorate their 25th year of strategic partnership, two French Navy warships, the frigate LA Fayette and the amphibious helicopter carrier FS Dixmude, have reached Kochi to commemorate the occasion.

As part of the Jeanne d’Arc circumnavigation mission, the French Naval Ships FS are expected to arrive between March 6 and 10. It is an annual deployment of French Navy ships aimed at enhancing interoperability between the navies of two countries.

The French team visited the ships of Southern Naval Command and professional training schools. The visit’s highlights included cross-training visits, professional and social interactions, and sports fixtures.

A key element of strengthening regional maritime security and stability in the Indo-Pacific area is Indo-French naval cooperation. The presence of French ships in India is a major indication of the two countries’ bilateral defence ties and strategic alliances.
