Dussehra 2022: The festival of Dussehra i.e. Vijayadashami has special significance in Hinduism. Every year in the month of Ashwin, the festival of Dussehra is celebrated on the tenth day of Shukla Paksha. According to mythological belief, on this day Lord Rama killed Lankapati Ravana and freed Mother Sita from his clutches. Since then every year on the day of Dussehra i.e. Vijayadashami, people celebrate the victory of good over evil by burning the effigy of Ravana.

Every year this festival is celebrated with pomp. This year Dussehra will be celebrated on 05 October. Apart from this, the idol of Maa Durga will also be immersed on the same day after Sharadiya Navratri.

Dussehra Pooja Vidhi:

On the day of Dussehra or Dussehra, take a bath early in the morning and wear clean clothes. After this, worship Lord Shri Ram, Mata Sita and Hanuman ji. In many places, 10 balls are made from cow dung on this day and barley seeds are planted on these balls. After this, people worship the Lord by showing incense and lamps and burn these balls. It is said that like the 10 heads of Ravana, these balls are a symbol of ego, greed and greed. These shells are burnt with the spirit of eliminating these evils from within.

Significance of Neelkanth:

In Hinduism, the Neelkanth bird is considered to be the representative of Lord Shiva. On the day of Dussehra, seeing Neelkanth and wishing for auspicious results from Lord Shiva brings luck, wealth and prosperity in life.
