Egyptian Army contingent to march in India’s Republic Day Parade

The country is going to celebrate its 74th Republic Day on 26 January. In such a situation, the preparations are in full swing. On Monday, a full-day rehearsal of the Republic Day was held on Delhi’s Duty Road, in which soldiers of the Indian Army, Air Force, Navy and Paramilitary Forces took part. But in the meantime, the Egyptian army contingent attracted everyone’s attention.

This contingent of 144 soldiers of the Egyptian Army will take part in the Republic Day parade. On Monday, this Egyptian contingent rehearsed step by step with the Indian soldiers. A 12-member band of the Egyptian Army will also take part in the parade on January 26.

Egyptian President El Sisi will be the chief guest

Every year on Republic Day, the head of a country is the chief guest. This time Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will be the chief guest on the Republic Day celebrations.

During this, a high-level delegation will also be accompanying him on a tour of India, which will include five ministers and senior officials. Al Sisi will reach India on 24 January.

The Foreign Ministry issued an official statement saying that this is the first time that the President of Egypt has been invited as the Chief Guest on Republic Day. A contingent of the Egyptian army will also take part in the Republic Day parade.

Before the celebration of Republic Day, the army of India and Egypt is conducting a joint military exercise. This military exercise is of 14 days.

History of Foreign Legion Contingent in Republic Day Parade

For the first time in 2016, a French army contingent took part in the Republic Day parade. This was the first time when a contingent of a foreign country participated in the Republic Day parade.

After this, in 2017, the Presidential Guard of the United Arab Emirates participated in the 68th Republic Day Parade. After this, in 2021, a contingent of Bangladesh Army also participated in the Republic Day parade.
