EPFO: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), one of the two primary social security bodies under the Indian Ministry of Labour and Employment, has announced a significant procedural change. EPF account holders will no longer be required to submit a joint declaration form for correcting or updating their account details. This form, essential for rectifying errors or updating information such as nominee details and Aadhaar linkage, previously required signatures from both the employee and employer, often making the process cumbersome.
EPFO Eases Process for Account Detail Corrections
This initiative is aimed at simplifying the correction process for EPF members and enhancing the efficiency of account management. It specifically benefits two categories of employees: those who joined the EPF scheme with a monthly salary below Rs 15,000 but continued contributing even after their salary exceeded this limit, and employees who switched jobs without submitting the necessary documentation for salary updates.
EPFO seeks to minimize complications for employees
By eliminating the need for a joint declaration form in these situations, the EPFO seeks to minimize complications for employees and employers, ensuring a smoother, hassle-free experience for updating or correcting EPF account details. This measure is expected to provide immediate relief to many EPFO members, facilitating easier management of their provident fund accounts.
