Facebook public policy director, Ankhi Das has stepped down from her position. Recently Das had been embroiled in a controversy after the Wall street reported that she opposed the takedown of the post by BJP ministers to protect the company's interest.
At an onset of the article published, Indian lawmakers raised questions on Facebook officials while Facebooks's own staff internally pushed for a review of the entire row.
Later on, Ankhi Das was questioned by a Parliamentary panel for over two hours last week in connection with data privacy issues.
Akhi was one of the senior and the earliest employes of Facebook in India and has played an important role in the growth of the foreign app in India.
“Ankhi has decided to step down from her role in Facebook to pursue her interest in public service. Ankhi was one of our earliest employees in India and played an instrumental role in the growth of the company and its services over the last 9 years," said Ajit Mohan, Managing Director India of Facebook.
