Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 22, launched a scathing assault on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party while speaking at the NDTV World Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. Modi called Gandhi a “failed product” and said that the Congress had a “history of running after the leader of the party time and again” risking the country’s image and achievements before the whole world. “Dimagi Naxals” had indeed occupied the party’s thinking, the Prime Minister also alleged.
Why Did PM Modi Call Rahul Gandhi a ‘Failed Product’?
Modi’s speech centered on what he said were the repeated efforts of the Congress leadership to make Rahul Gandhi a national leader of the party. Comparing this to the launching of rockets from Sriharikota, the Prime Minister asked how long the party would keep making an effort to promote its leader for the nation, despite repeated failures. The comments came as part of broader attack on the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty’s dominance within Congress. Modi alleged that the party was prioritising the family of a single family over its wider commitments to the party. The remarks were Modi’s political estimation, rather than an objective conclusion.
