Farmer Protest: Delhi Traffic Police Issues Advisory for Farmers’ Mahapanchayat, Warns of Road Restrictions

Before a farmers' mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan, the Delhi Traffic Police sends out a commuter warning that includes driving rules and alternate routes to take.

Farmer Protest: A commuter warning was released by Delhi Traffic Police on Wednesday in advance of the farmers‘ mahapanchayat at Ramlila Maidan, Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg, on March 14. The “Kisan Mahapanchayat” will be held by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on the farm to force the Centre to grant the demands of the farmers, including a minimum support price (MSP) law.

Anticipated Crowd Attendance

It is anticipated that a sizable crowd from all around India will attend the demonstration. Jawahar Lal Nehru Marg , Barakhamba Road, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Jai Singh Road, Swami Vivekanand Marg, Sansad Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, Baba Kharag Singh Marg, Minto Road, Ashoka Road, Maharaja Ranjeet Singh flyover, Connaught Circus, Bhavbhuti Marg, DDU Marg, Chaman Lal Marg, these are the roads that will be regulated from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Advisory from Delhi Traffic Police

Delhi Traffic police said in advisory that, “Commuters are requested to cooperate by avoiding or bypassing the above- mentioned roads, if possible, and by making maximum use of public transport, especially Metro services. Further, the general public is advised to keep sufficient time at hand while planning road journeys via the above-mentioned roads and junctions. People who are going towards ISBT, Railway Station, or Airport are advised to carefully plan their travel with sufficient time at hand. We appreciate your understanding and your cooperation towards the alleviation of traffic congestion during the above- mentioned period.”
