Farmers Protest: Rajasthan Farmers Defy Barricades! Forge New Routes to Join Punjab Protests

Farmers from Rajasthan demonstrate tenacity in their efforts to participate in the ongoing demonstrations at the Khanauri border, overcoming roadblocks and detentions by creating new paths.

Farmers Protest

Farmers Protest: Farmers from the districts of Ganganagar and Hanumangarh in Rajasthan have been travelling to Punjab by other routes, with their destination being the Khanauri border. On February 13, Rajasthan Police had erected barricades at Sadhuwali, the state’s border with Punjab, to halt the farmers’ march via Dabwali towards Delhi.

Obstacles at the Border

“We were stopped from leaving Rajasthan on our tractors to participate in the protests. Nearly 100 of us were detained on Feb 13. But today, we moved out of Rajasthan via smaller routes and are heading towards Khanauri border to participate in the ongoing protest,” said Gramin Kisan Samiti leader Harwinder Singh.

Farmers Respond to the Hanumangarh Rally

In the meantime, in response to a request from Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), a sizable contingent of farmers gathered at Hanumangarh with tractors in an attempt to pass through the location on the Hanumangarh-Sangria bypass where BJP activists were scheduled to witness the announcement of several development projects by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The police had put up barricades to stop the farmers, who breached them, leading to a scuffle. Two protesters have sustained some injuries,” said BKU Tikait leader Resham Singh.
